Study Abroad Program Snapshot

Quebec City Pic 1The Québec Program is a French-immersion program conducted in collaboration with the Université Laval, located in Québec City. All students will take a course on Québec history and civilization with the program director during week 1 of the trip. During the following 5 weeks, students take courses with Laval University teachers. Classroom instruction is supplemented by excursions, sporting, cultural, and social events conducted in French by a team of Université Laval animateurs. Students will reside and eat meals with Quebecois families. There is no other USG French immersion program in Canada.

During weeks 2-6 students will take 18 hours of formal classroom instruction per week. The excursions and activities for week 1 include: walking tour of Québec City; orientation on campus; museum visits to the Musée de l'Amérique Francaise, Musée de la Civilization, Centre d'interpretation; and aperitif at the program director's residence. For weeks 2-6 the activities and excursions include: visit to a cabane à sucre; visit to Tadoussac and whale watching; visit to lle d'Orléans; cathedral visits; hiking; 2 movies per week; international night; costume ball; and one group meal with the director. Students will also have an individual meeting with the director every Monday.
