For full descriptions of each of the available funds, please review our Funding page here:
  • Woodlands Fund
  • Judith D. Shaw Fund
  • John David Bradshaw Fund
  • Ploughman Fund

Scholarships are based on both need and merit.

You can apply for one or all of these scholarships at once by selecting the appropriate options within the Oxford Endowed Scholarships application.

HOW TO APPLY
  1. Apply for a UGA at Oxford program by completing a program application in the StudyAway Portal.
  2. Complete an Endowed Scholarships application in the StudyAway Portal by clicking “Apply Now” above. The application requires the following steps:
  3. Highly recommended to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and ensure that it has been lodged with the Official of Student Financial Aid. This should be a current FAFSA, i.e. based on taxes filed in January of the previous year.
  4. Once this is done, upload an Athena “Award Overview" for the current academic year. Instructions on where to find your Award Overview are given below.
  5. Upload an Academic Writing Sample in the “Attached Documents” section. This should be 5-10 pages in length, and preferably written for a class taken by one of the faculty members writing your letters of recommendation.
  6. Choose two faculty or staff members to receive the Reference Questionnaire. Once you enter their names, their reference forms will be sent directly to the requested faculty or staff members. These should attest to your academic qualifications and personal attributes. Ask your evaluators to explain how they know you and how long they have had an opportunity to observe your academic and personal accomplishments. For best results, you should seek letters from professors and instructors who have taught you advanced or challenging subjects. If you choose recommenders who are not university faculty, they should speak to extra-curricular or work activities that are highly relevant to your major or other professional goals.
  7. PLOUGHMAN SCHOLARSHIP ONLY: Upload a personal statement of 1,000 – 1,200 words which describes your academic and professional aspirations and the ways in which you strive in your daily life to practice the kinds of values embodied by Chaucer’s character, the Ploughman, in his work The Canterbury Tales. For more information, see https://oxford.uga.edu/funding#.

How to find your Athena Award Overview:
  1. Log in to ATHENA and select "Financial Aid."
  2. Select "Award."
  3. Select "Award for Aid Year."
  4. Select the second tab, "Award Overview."
  5. Take a screenshot of your "Award Overview," OR save the "Award Overview" as a PDF.
  6. Ensure that it shows your ESTIMATED FAMILY CONTRIBUTION and Cost of Attendance
  7. Upload this file to your program application.
