ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicant must must be enrolled as a full-time, BBA degree-seeking student in the Terry College of Business.
  2. Applicant must be in good academic standing.
  3. Student must be eligible for and pending admission to a Terry College faculty-led study abroad program at the time of application. [Awards are disbursed to awardees after they are admitted to a program and beginning their study abroad term.]
  4. Applicants who wish to be considered on the basis of financial need should have a complete Federal Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with UGA Office of Student Financial Aid. For information, see http://osfa.uga.edu/application.html#fafsa.

PREPARE YOUR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

  1. Select "Apply now" at the top of this brochure. Once started, you can return to work on the application until the deadline.
  2. Complete all questionnaires and material submissions on-line.
  3. Once these steps are complete, the application is ready for consideration by the awarding committee (meeting in fall). Your application status will be updated after the decision date.
*TIPS*
  • Essay-- Q1) Why study abroad? Describe your interest in study abroad and how it relates to your personal and professional goals. Q2) Financial need? Address how you intend to support your study abroad cost of attendance, e.g. family, work, financial aid and scholarships, credit/loans, etc. Lastly, It is OK to have an informal tone, but not OK to be slack about basic grammar and structure. Use the Div. of Academic Enhancement's Writing Center for free guidance and review your work!
  • Update your UGA cost of attendance profile to include the estimated study abroad expenses (e.g., airfare, visa fees, housing and meals, program fee, etc.) for your desired program and term.
  • Check Athena for your Financial Aid Award Package for 2020-2021 to be sure it correctly reflects your expected contributions and financial aid. The best way to demonstrate financial need for student aid is to file a FAFSA
  • Speak with the Ofc. of Student Financial Aid about how additional costs of study abroad and scholarships will affect your current award package, if any.

AWARDING

Your application status will be updated after the decision date. Award amounts vary depending on the cost of attendance for your selected program and term. Scholarship awards are disbursed to the UGA Student Account after Drop/Add week of the term in which you are enrolled in a Terry faculty-led study abroad program. The credit will apply to exiting charges on the student account. Any remaining balance may be remitted to the student as a refund. Note: The awarding timeline may not align with deadlines for required program deposits or other upfront costs (e.g., airfare) that a program participant may incur!
