Terry College of Business

Application opens April 1. Deadline to Apply is September 30.

The Terry College of Business Study Abroad Scholarship program was created to increase and diversify student participation in study, research, and internships abroad.

  1. Applicant must must be enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking student in the Terry College of Business.
  2. Applicant must demonstrate financial need. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the Federal Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) to demonstrate financial need. For information, see
  3. Applicant must be in good academic standing.
  4. Student must be committed to a Terry College faculty-led study abroad program at the time the award is disbursed, during the normal financial aid disbursement period of a given semester.

  1. Select "Apply now" at the top of this brochure. Once started, you can return to work on the application until the deadline.
  2. Complete all questionnaires and material submissions on-line.
  3. Request one reference from a UGA faculty member or employer by providing their e-mail address in the web app. Be sure to check regularly on the status of their response.
  4. Once these steps are complete, the application is ready for consideration by the awarding committee (meeting in fall). Your application status will be updated after the decision date.
  • Essay--Describe your interest in study abroad and how it relates to your personal and professional aspirations. Address how you intend to utilize a scholarship and any other support you may receive for study abroad. It is OK to have an informal tone, but not OK to be slack about basic grammar and structure. Use the Div. of Academic Enhancement's Writing Center for free guidance and review!
  • Check Athena for your Financial Aid Award Package for 2019-2020 to be sure it correctly reflects your expected contributions and financial aid. The best way to demonstrate financial need for student aid is to file a FAFSA. If you do not or will not have a FAFSA on file for any reason, include in your essay a statement about your financial need.
  • Update your cost of attendance to include study abroad expenses (e.g., airfare, visa fees, housing and meals, etc.). Speak with the Ofc. of Student Financial Aid about how additional costs of study abroad and scholarships will affect your current award package.

Your application status will be updated after the decision date. Award amounts vary depending on the cost of attendance for your selected program/term. Scholarship awards are disbursed to the UGA Student Account after Drop/Add week of the term in which you are enrolled in a Terry faculty-led study abroad program. The credit will apply to charges on the student account. Any remaining balance may be remitted to the student as a refund. Note: The awarding timeline may not align with deadlines for program deposits or other upfront costs (e.g., airfare) that a program participant may incur.

Awardees are required to

  1. Write a thank you letter to the scholarship sponsor prior to departure,
  2. Send the donor a postcard from abroad,
  3. Record a short Thank View video from abroad,
  4. Share your study abroad experiences at #ugaintlbusiness while abroad, and
  5. Serve as a volunteer at a Terry study abroad promotional event.
