OGE Asia-Georgia Internship Connection Scholarship
The Asia-Georgia Internship Connection scholarship awards up to $5,000 per student. Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students are eligible. The primary objective of this grant is to fund academic credit bearing internships; however, a small subset of grants can be used to fund students receiving academic credit for international research opportunities.
Internships/Volunteer opportunities MUST last for a minimum of 4 weeks and MUST be for academic credit. There is no maximum limit on internship/volunteering duration. Internships/volunteering MUST be conducted in southeast Asia. Preference is given to students traveling to Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, but scholarships may be considered for students interning in other countries within the region as well. You MUST be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to apply. Only one application may be submitted per student.
DEADLINES FOR ASIA-GEORGIA INTERNSHIP CONNECTION SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is NOT rolling admissions. The upcoming deadlines are November 15th for Spring 2023 and February 15th for Summer 2023. Each student may only submit one application.
GUIDELINES AND ELIGIBILITY FOR PROGRAM
The UGA Office of Global Engagement was awarded $200,000 from the Freeman Foundation to provide grants for professional experience in Southeast Asia. The primary objective of this grant is to fund internships (preferably related to their career goals), however a small subset of grants can be used to fund students applying to study abroad programs with a credit bearing internship component. Currently enrolled UGA undergraduate or graduate students are eligible. Internships/Volunteer opportunities MUST last for a minimum of 4 weeks and MUST earn academic credit for the internship. There is no maximum limit on internship/volunteer duration. Internships/volunteer program MUST be conducted in Southeast Asia. You MUST be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
HOW TO PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION
Students must have a program application
in the StudyAway Portal to be considered for this scholarship for the course credit that they are applying for. If your program is not listed as an option or if your internship/research component is separate from your main study away program application, please apply to the Non-UGA General Program
for credit transfer programs or the General Independent Experience Abroad application
for direct UGA credit programs that are separate from UGA Faculty-Led. If you are unsure which category your program would fall under please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
