Program Location

sydneyThe University of Sydney has several campuses and teaching facilities spread across greater Sydney, but most of our faculties and student support services are based on the Camperdown and Darlington campuses.

Whether you’re an art novice or connoisseur, anyone can get involved in Art & About Sydney a fun, vibrant and collaborative festival that uses public spaces throughout the City as a canvas.

You could find yourself face-to-face with a giant pink snail around the city CBD, experience a dance/street gymnastics performance in a Sydney park, be told someone’s deepest secret at a bus stop or stroll through an avenue of art in Hyde Park. As well as the streets, parks, laneways and public spaces, take advantage of The Art Gallery of NSW, State Library of NSW, Australian Museum, Museum of Sydney and Customs House Library, who will all be opening their doors until late.

Don’t forget to take in the distinct character of our villages too, from designer led Surry Hills, to hip and happening Newtown; elegant cafes in Potts Point to the Theatre District in Walsh Bay, there is something to suit all tastes.

Min Ji Elizabeth Jang, Fall 2018 Participant
There were many opportunities to explore; there were surfing camps, trips to Uluru, breakfast with koalas, etc. I only did the breakfast with koalas, but I had friends who went on the other trips. They're definitely excursions that are unique to Australia!

Lauren Taylor Reischman, Spring 2016 Participant
Sydney feels like the safest city in the world.

Personally, I got to fulfill a long-time dream of mine-- to live in a big city. Just by being in the city, I was satisfied, so I have absolutely no regrets, but the experiences I had throughout the five months in Sydney were just absolute blessings. I was able to find peace in being independent and doing daily activities on my own. I got to travel to various places around Australia and even snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. While I didn't find Nemo, I found a group of wonderful friends who sacrificed so much to give me a once-in-a-liifetime experience abroad. I'll never forget the people and the memories I've made, and I'm just so thankful that I had this opportunity to study abroad in Sydney.
