UGA Exchange, Université Clermont Auvergne

University Clermont Auvergne (UCA) is a new university, created from the merging of two universities – Blaise Pascal University and the University of Auvergne.  Each year Clermont Auvergne welcomes around 800 international students who come to study through the European Erasmus program and bilateral exchange agreements.  In addition, 400 students study to learn French at the Foreign Language Center (FLEURA Center) and the 3000 students who come individually to follow one of our 200 diplomas. Overall, UCA hosts approximately 5000 international students which represents 13% of the 36 000 registered students.

Program Location

blaise pascal 2The city is the capital of the Auvergne region by virtue of its ancient historical traditions and considerable economic and industrial development. Its situation, in an area noted for its green and rolling countryside, makes hiking and tourist activities particularly attractive. A stroll around the city reveals sites of remarkable interest, including the 8th century Romanesque basilica “Notre-Dame-du-Port”, the gothic-style cathedral “Notre-Dame de l’Assomption” or the medieval district in Montferrand where the “Dauphin d’Auvergne” fair brings the Middle Ages alive each June. The international headquarters of the Michelin tyre manufacturers, Clermont- Ferrand is also growing strongly in such sectors as the cereals industry (Limagrain, third biggest seed group in the world), health (Merck, Sharp & Dhome Chibret Pharmaceuticals, an International Centre of Endoscopic Surgery), in research activities centred on Agronomy, in mechanics and also tertiary industries. Its inhabitants have the advantage of living in a large city located at the heart of vast natural parks close to the extinct volcanoes of Auvergne, a situation which is further enhanced by VULCANIA, the first scientific complex to be devoted to the study of volcanic activity and the Earth sciences. Further useful information on the town and the region is available from the Tourist Board.

Rent varies from 146€ in a hall of residence to 400€ for a one-room flat in a private accommodation. Halls of Residence Blaise Pascal University has 70 rooms at its disposal for international students, in halls of residence.
