Program Location

sogang 2Sinchon, located in Seoul, is known as a “University Town” because of the several major prestigious universities located in the area. Sogang University, located in the center of Sinchon, offers international students a firsthand experience of the various universities in the Sinchon area and the general Korean university culture. They will also have opportunities to meet the students of neighboring universities. At Sogang, there are various activities available to its students. On top of academic classes, international students can participate in extracurricular activities, programs offered by the Office of International Affairs, and events for international students which enable them to mix and interact with the students of Sogang University. As a Catholic university founded by the Society of Jesus, there are various campus ministry programs offered at Sogang University. There are two masses a day in the campus chapel and weekly Bible studies offered in English, Japanese, and German. Also, programs which offer annual trips to the “holy grounds” in Korea are offered. Located in Sogang campus, Mary Hall (Concert Hall) offers music concerts and plays throughout the year and festivals in the spring and fall. Each year, Sogang Film Festival showcases the best independent movies from Korea and abroad. Being smaller in size compared to other major Korean universities, Sogang University offers a family-like atmosphere and intensive care for international students to help them adjust and feel at home. Students who go back to their home country after studying at Sogang, wish to come back to study at Sogang in the future.

I thought I would not have homesick or culture shock since I've been Korea 4 years ago, but things are very different when you actually live there. So I want to give an advice or to warn that there will be some homesick and culture shock no matter what.
