I loved learning about the culture, values, healthcare systems, medical school format, environment that people in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina live in, and the foods that they eat on a regular basis.

Program Testimonials
Now that it has been about a month since I have finished this study abroad trip, I have been able to think more about all of the advantages I have taken away. Most importantly, I have learned more about myself and all of the experiences that then help to shape my ideals and values in life overall. The locations where we visited were each significantly different, which helped me to become better at seeing the differences in things but valuing these differences. I became friends with new people who brought new thoughts to my attention. They are people who I enjoyed to be around throughout the duration of the trip.

I enjoyed being able to learn about the history and culture of Croatia. In addition, I found it valuable to be able to interact with the people and learn about their perspectives as well. Learning about public health concepts in the Croatian context was also a very educational experience.

Program Testimonials
Some of the most significant take-aways from my study abroad experience were that: 1. you never truly understand the culture, traditions, lifestyles, complexity, and beauty of a country until you step foot in it; 2. learning in another country is a completely different experience than learning in a classroom; and 3. the friendships and interactions made will change your out look on many things and open your mind up to new ideas/experiences.

Program Testimonials
I got to experience a whole country in a month versus just one city. We experienced and compared over 10 different cities that reside in the same country and learned about the healthcare policies, culture, history, and more. I was able to experience so much that it helped broaden my view of what there is to do post graduation. Also, being able to spend more time with professors allowed me to form better relationships which helped me learn about even more opportunities at UGA. I also have made man more close friendships that I am lucky to be able to have back in Athens as well. I really appreciated the fact that this program had only 24 students because it allowed us to work closely with each other and learn more about each other in a month than I ever have in a typical classroom.
