Final Reflection Questions
What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
Program Testimonials
Study something specific and unique to the country that you are visiting. The art history far more enriching than I expected it to be since we were able to look at the actual works of art while in Italy. It is very important to study subjects pertinent to your specific area of study, but study abroad has the ability to expand your outlook on the world - study subjects different from your own too if given the opportunity.

What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
Program Testimonials
I learned a lot about Italian culture and history. Being able to see all of the paintings and churches that I had heard so much about in person was incredible. I learned so much about the political and religious value of art, things I would never have been able to appreciate if not for our excursions. The biology course was also engaging; while I did not gain as much knowledge from the cancer section of the course, I did learn many new things about the human gut microbiome in the antibiotics section of the course, such as how detrimental antibiotics are to our microbiota. I also now can appreciate the work that goes into creating cancer treatments and antibiotics. Regardless of the classes, I also learned to be more sufficient in creating my own schedule, trying new things in Cortona that I otherwise would not have done with my family.

What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?
Program Testimonials
Being able to physically see lecture content in museums and churches made it so much easier to understand and more importantly appreciate Italian Art. In addition, the program granted students a lot of freedom. I was able to meet locals in different cities and live similar to them as opposed as a tourist.
— Juan Garcia, Maymester 2019
What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
Program Testimonials
Definitely study abroad if you can. I liked this program because I knew I did not want to be out of the country for too long but wanted to have enough time to feel like I left. Cortona was also a great town to be in for this program. The locals were very friendly and it was small enough to make you feel like you were a part of it.
