Embracing, and assimilating into, a foreign culture as an expat. Tremendous personal growth and maturation that is practically inexplicable. Finding happiness in every fleeting moment and capitalizing on it creating a feeling of endless contentment and gratitude which engineers a happy life. A worldly way to learn that made a small town southern kid think globally, act locally and embrace a cosmopolitan attitude and environment. Most importantly, this experience provided me with lifelong friendships for which I am eternally grateful.

Lyon is just a good as Paris; plenty of people speak English and the city itself is lovely with a lot of stuff to do!

I believed it strengthened my independence and taught me a lot of valuable life skills.

How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?

This experience was the zenith of my educational goals; it was something I've looked forward to doing since I was five years old: I had always wanted to travel, I loved learning and new that one day I wanted to study abroad. The University of Georgia helped make one of my dreams and goals come true. It further solidified my career goals: I hope to one day work for the Department of State or the Department of Defense, and this experience provided me with skills that have enhanced my qualifications for such employment. As far as personal goals, this experience simply reinstated my passion for traveling, meeting new people and embracing different cultures.
