What are your words of advice to students considering this program?
Program Testimonials
If you are looking for intensive Japanese courses in OUSSEP, be prepared to self-study and/or go out of your way to take MAPLE courses on the Minoh campus. Of course, practicing your Japanese is what will make your skills improve faster, but if you need a class-like structure to learn then do your best to prepare ahead of time. Osaka University is in a prime location to experience a variety of cultures within Japan; reach out to others and travel often if you get the chance!

How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?
Program Testimonials
I was able to experience many new teaching styles. As a future teacher, I feel I learned a lot about pedagogy and what I would like to incorporate into my classroom. This exchange motivated me to further my studies and showed me areas of the Japanese language that I had not put much thought into before. Now, I understand that there will be an even heavier emphasis on linguistics, not just familiarity with the language. I now have a clearer idea of what I should be doing in order to be an effective teacher.
