Announcements : UGA US Passport Initiative is open again for AY 2022-23

Announcement: UGA US Passport Initiative is open again for AY 2022-23

Event Date: 04/24/2023
Any current UGA undergraduate student who has never obtained an adult U.S. passport (or their passport was issued prior to the age of 16), can apply. This initiative will cover the cost of the passport.

Are you a UGA undergraduate student who is a U.S. citizen and has never had a U.S. adult passport?
The Office of Global Engagement is proud to announce the 3rd year of our UGA U.S. Passport Initiative! This Passport Initiative is in place to provide funding to students for the cost of getting a U.S. passport from UGA Passport Services, up to $170.

The application is open to all current UGA undergraduate students, who are U.S. citizens, and who have never received an adult passport before
(meaning this would either be their first passport ever, or their last passport was issued to them before the age of 16).
You do not have to study abroad to qualify!

This is a single time opportunity for undergraduate students so please apply now while funds last!

WHY APPLY NOW?
Funding is limited, but if you can secure Passport Initiative funding now, you can get a head start on passport applications.  Currently, U.S. passport application processing time is 12-18 weeks, so applying for a U.S. passport EARLY is key if you plan travel abroad for Spring 2023.

Any questions about the initiative can be directed towards sascholarships@uga.edu or call us at 706-542-2900.
