What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?

This trip really helped me to become more independent and discover who I truly am within the confines of a different culture. I made life-long friends with people that I might not have ever met otherwise and got the chance to explore so many incredible places. In addition, being thrust into a different education environment and getting closer instruction from professors is a great chance to learn so many different things. I improved as a writer, as a reader, and as a student overall.

What were the most significant take-aways from your experience?

Oxford taught me how to get the most out of intense experiences, both cultural and academic. I discovered more than I thought was possible about the world, the subjects in which I was taking classes, and myself. The city, the university, and the friends I made all inspired me to learn.

How did the experience impact you and your future educational/career/personal goals?

This study abroad experience helped me solidify my choice of a major (International Affairs). I now know that I am completely comfortable being emerged in a new culture, even if Oxford is still very similar to the U.S., and am willing to work hard to understand local quirks. I also was excited to see how comfortable I felt living abroad, because that was something I was considering for my future and now I know that I would definitely take a job that has an international travel/living abroad situation.
