I always felt safe & at home in Cortona, and confident exploring other cities as well.

My classes were amazing and I learned SO much--but I still felt like I had time to fully experience and enjoy my environment.

The faculty were fantastic, I learned so much not only from the professors who's classes I was taking, but others as well.

The rooms were very simple and exactly what we needed.

It's hard to go wrong with food when you're in Italy! Tonino's was awesome.

The Cortonese were so welcoming, amazing, and willing to help! I loved how much time we got to spend getting to know locals.

The Cortonese are so friendly and I found it easy to go out and ask them questions about daily life, grocery shopping, or whatever.

I think overall the staff did a great job of managing the program.

I mean, Italy and Cortona are awesome places to spend a summer. I really enjoyed my time in Italy and would recommend others to go on the program.

I was so so so excited and I was not let down. I didn't have a single bad day while I was in Italy.

I think that this was a fabulous program that enabled me to experience Italy from a more personal and intimate viewpoint. Oh, the angels were awesome too!

For me, attending the UGA Cortona Study Abroad Program was an overwhelmingly positive experience. I have only praise for my professors Melissa Harshman (Intro Printmaking) whose encouraging attitude sparked my interest in printmaking, and especially Marty Fielding, whom I now consider a personal mentor and gave me a whole new appreciation of my own major (Ceramics). At the end of the Cortona Program, I find myself newly inspired as a visual artist (both by the masters whose work we saw in person and the valuable personal experience of studying abroad) and excited to continue my practice. I'd also like to express my appreciation for Kris Schramer, who worked tirelessly to keep the ship afloat and care for all of our needs/concerns throughout the summer.

It was the best summer of my life.

In comparison with other study abroad programs, the Cortona program offers a deeply rich experience in the study of art. The classes are appropriately rigorous and require a good deal of effort, which in return brings a rather unexpected growth in the individual.

I had an amazing summer and I would encourage anyone to do this program! Future participants I advise to pack lightly and leave the most room for the experiences gained.

My best advice to future Cortona Program participants is this: be conscious of how you spend your time, because it'll be over before you know it! The truth is, between the myriad social activities, cultural events, classes/studio time, and opportunities to travel, there is an incredible (and sometimes overwhelming) variety of things to do, and it's impossible to see and do it all. That said, I urge you to jump in feet first; figure out what you want to get out of this program, and then chase it! In retrospect, one of my own regrets, for example, is not interacting more with the local Cortonese residents--I found it easy to get caught up in studio work and not take advantage of all the cultural experiences Cortona and Italy have to offer. You really can make of this experience what you will, so take full advantage!

To future participants: Don't spend your time worrying or complaining about little things! Enjoy the time you have there because it is truly incredible. I have only been gone a couple weeks and I already miss it!

Cortona is a great oportunity. You get to study and travel all together and every student should study abroad at least once.

There's no better way to learn about yourself than when you're surrounded by new experiences.

I would recommend the UGA Cortona Study Abroad Program to any aspiring artist; the opportunity to learn and create surrounded by centuries of Italian artwork, immerse myself in a different culture, and be inspired by my professors and peers was a transformative experience for me.

My study abroad education in Cortona, Italy was simply amazing. I learned so much and met so many wonderful new people. My art techniques were greatly enhanced through the teachings of my talented professors. When do you get another chance to live in another country and make art for few months? Cortona is a quaint hillside town that quickly becomes home. It offers an opportunity to see iconic Italian art you learn about in art history and you get to see them while faculty share their knowledge.

You will never find an opportunity to experience Italy like you will in the Cortona program.

The incredible faculty and staff worked tirelessly to provide an exceptional experience in a country that each person had an obvious admiration for.

This was my first time traveling abroad, so I was a little reluctant and unsure of what to expect, but the program and experiences that come with it were beyond anything I could've ever imagined! UGA Cortona provides many opportunities to travel, connect with locals, and create new relationships with your peers - highly recommend studying abroad in Italy, especially if you are in the need of a little soul searching!

Cortona is something you never knew you needed. It's a warm glow in the middle of Italy that you'll be so lucky to call home, months after you've returned.
