I never felt the homesickness nor the sense of "belonging" that was predicted, but I believe that this is a result of the country that I stayed in as opposed to how I was prepared. The study abroad team at UGA is really excellent in helping every step of the way.

The country was very safe as well as the apartment I stayed in.

Switzerland is extremely clean, safe, and the transportation is very efficient.

The courses I took were extremely refreshing and challenged me in knew ways, however, some classes stood out much more than others. Course quality was not the same for all classes.

Zurich is a great location mostly because you can get anywhere else very quickly and easily, whether within Switzerland or abroad.

Switzerland was absolutely beautiful and the short weekend trips I took with friends to Lake Konstanz and St. Gallen were awesome opportunities to enjoy the hiking trails and some of the local foods.

Great location, great housing.

I felt very safe in my student apartment. It was clean. The location was perfect and it was great to be living with other exchange students. My only wish was that it had more furniture for seating besides a desk chair and dining table.

There are a few organizations that host parties for exchange students, so it makes it very easy to meet other international students. Student houses also allow you to meet so many local and exchange students.

I was very immersed in the culture as I was an exchange student and not part of a UGA campus abroad.
Fall 2018 Participant
Staff did a great job handling my personal needs and concerns, especially before my arrival.

Zurich is a very expensive city to live in, so I ended up spending a significantly higher than usual amount of money than I would in Athens. I think the exchange program was definitely worth it though. I met so many people, experienced a new culture, and learned to be more independent.

I found the approach to academics and grading at ETH extremely difficult, but I really enjoyed living in Zurich and being able to learn more about European Agriculture. I also got to take some amazing Nutrition and Epidemiology courses that I normally wouldn't take. UGA was so helpful, and they really made it easy for me to study abroad.

I was worried the workload was going to be too heavy and take away from other important aspects of being abroad, but it did not. I think this is because of the specific courses I chose- interesting electives rather than important major courses.

Top-tier education in the valleys of Swiss mountains. Fun city, fun people, and a fun time.

Although my semester abroad in Switzerland was cut short, the time I spent there allowed me to make some awesome friends from all over the globe. I had the opportunity to experience the gorgeous lakes and mountains that Switzerland is known for, as well as the delicious chocolate and cheese that are some of the best I have ever tasted. The courses that I took were rigorous, but the topics I studied enriched my knowledge food science and nutrition beyond what I could have obtained from a semester back home.
