Announcement: Memo on the Coronavirus in Italy (February 26, 2020)

Event Date: 02/26/2020

From Noel Fallows, Associate Provost, UGA

The University of Georgia has no higher priority than the health and safety of our students, whether they are studying in Athens or a program abroad. Under the guidance of the U.S. State Department, we continue to monitor conditions in Italy as well as other locations across the globe where UGA students are studying.

Earlier this semester, in compliance with UGA International Travel Policy, UGA canceled its Spring and Summer 2020 programs in China after the U.S. State Department moved to a Level 3 Travel Advisory, which rapidly escalated to a Level 4.

We continue to monitor the State Department’s Travel Advisories closely and will communicate and follow established procedures should conditions change.  For additional information about U.S. State Department Travel Advisory levels, please see:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/about-our-new-products.html

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have concerns or questions.

Sincerely, Noel Fallows.
